The skills of geophysics are used in major projects like construction of deep-water ports and marinas, dredging, laying of underwater cables and pipelines, locating buried pipelines and wrecks, sedimentology etc.


We have carried out number of foundation studies for drilling platforms, as well as many control studies of dredging and waterways. We have unique experience in providing three-dimensional interpretation with very great precision. We use bathymetry technique, which provides a permanent survey of the underwater topographical profile, side scan sonar, which allows a plan view of the sea floor, and seismic reflection (sub bottom profiling) which gives a continuous stratigraphic profile of layers of sediments and geological formation of the sea bed. This technology combined with seismic refraction is used in major civil engineering projects.


The diversity and complementary nature of geophysical methods provide a broad range of information on the exact depth and condition of the bottom and the objects on the seabed or beneath it. Further more the information obtained from geophysical methods is continuous and covers a wide area of investigation compared to single point data derived from drilling or sampling. The entire operation is carried out from water surface only, with equipment mounted on a boat, and hence the application of these methods is very fast.

There are various geophysical methods available for obtaining different information. The geophysical methods presented herewith have been used in different projects related to sea bed investigations.
